This week Mermaid and I dropped off a bag of crochet goodies at the Ronald McDonald house. A couple of Granny Mae Blankets (the donation ones from the 2 blankets that were ordered in February), the octopus for preemies toys, and a lovey baby. I love the way Mermaid wants to hand deliver the items to kids there. She wants to give them hugs to get better with the toys and blankets. I tell her that we can’t hug the kids because our germs could make them sick but at 3 she does not get it, and that is ok. I love that she wants them to feel better though. The lady working the front desk was excited about the octopus toy. She had a mom check in this morning from the hospital who has a preemie and couldn’t get the toy to her fast enough.
I have been working on an American Star Baby blanket that was ordered on Etsy. I love these blankets. I have been toying with the idea of changing the red and white rings to look like Captain America’s shield but can’t decide. What do you think?
I made progress on writing the instructions for my fingerless glove pattern. I have only written ones for myself to be able to remake an item, never for publication so I am taking my time so it works out right.
I have another project in the planning stage. My Father In Law wants a man version of the Ruana I made for my Mother In Law for Christmas. They are building a house in the Georgia mountains right now and it gets significantly colder there than it does here in Florida. He can’t decide if he wants it to be open in the front, slide over his head, or close with buttons like a cardigan. I also should decide if it is going to have a hood or not. I have been looking through Ravelry, Craftsy, and the big box yarn free patterns and I can’t find a man poncho that I like – Heck I can’t find a man poncho at all. I think I am doing to make it an over the head, no hood, poncho style. But to make it manly but not just a big plain square with a hole in the middle I want to work in Celtic cables and maybe a honeycomb body. What do you think? Would a guy in your life wear a poncho with Celtic cables? I know I would wear one! Maybe I will market it as a uni-sex poncho. I found the yarn I want to use and bought it today (it was on sale – don’t judge me) so I can start playing around with it when ever I get ready.
