Stitchin’ Saturday 17

Sometimes I forget the real reason I ever started crocheting and crafting in the first place was for therapy. I have had Fibromyalgia and Hypothyroidism for 19 years and that takes a toll people.  I am always in pain, always tense, always on high alert mentally, my patience is not as good as it used to be, and I noticed that I am just not as happy as I used to be.  I had a lightbulb moment when I was listening to a podcast and they were talking about how designers lose their passion for their craft because it just becomes work, stress and deadlines. You could have gone blind with the light that went off above my head. Sure I am not a published designer but I do design pieces for my store and my family. I am constantly researching new trends to see if it is something I should add to the store. I have a list a mile long of things that I want to make and either do a post on or list for sale in the shop.  Then add on all the things I do or need to do for my Mommy blog and it gets overwhelming!

I wrote down a list of all the WIPs I have in progress in all my different crafts, then a list of all the things I have bought materials for and have waiting to start, then I just stared at all the pattern books and magazines with little sticky notes in them of other things that I want to make.  I stopped counting at 75.  So what do you do when you have all that piling up? I stuck my tongue out at it and decided to pick the top things on the list and just work on them.  Back in the day I would never start another project until I had finished the one I was working on in any one craft.  So I could be working on a quilt, a crochet scarf, and a cross stitch picture at the same time; but never a quilt, a cross stitch sampler, 2 skirts for me, 1 dress for Mermaid, 4 blankets, 2 dolls, a heating pad cover, a tote bag, a scarf, 4 shawls and a pair of booties. So It is time to get this mess back into something manageable and find my happy place again.

On a happy note Denise from Georgia won the April Yarn Giveaway.  I have sent the package and it should be in her hands any day now.  Don’t be sad that you didn’t win, I have May’s Giveaway up and running.  This is for 2 skeins of Alpaca Lace from Cascade in Turquoise Heather.  You need this yarn in your life so go enter!
