This month I am a little behind getting the list out and it is all because it is Mermaid’s Birthday this week! Yep she is turning 4 and I can’t stand it. Just look at that face!
This month I have 10! Yes 10 different CAL/ KALs for you to choose from. So when your looking for a something to blame for your next trip to the yarn store there has to be at least one below you can use.
*Don’t forget that you can also put all your entries for the ones below in the Pigskin Party and the Double Dip KAL! Just incase your competitive like me.
Runs from October 1 – December 15, 2017
Cost of a Sunflower Knits pattern of your choice
Ash created this KAL because after months of working full tilt getting her book Ferdaskor (Travelling Shoes) out into the world she wanted to celebrate it! (I won a copy in a KAL I did last month and I am loving it! I have the yarn ordered to make the Lava Fingerless Gloves already.) To participate you knit any of the Sunflower Knits patterns and post it to the Ravelry group thread. You can tag your makes with #bekindkal on Instagram too (but I am not sure if that counts as entering it in the KAL for a prize.) There are 7 prizes that are up for grabs: stitch markers, patterns from other designers, and I think 2 books/ magazines. Go check her out and join her group your going to love her stuff.
Runs from November 3 – 30, 2017
It is free to join, and you get the pattern for free when you subscribe to her newsletter!
This KAL is just for the Slush hat. You can use any super bulky weight yarn you want to make this cute hat. Then pop a picture of it using #slushkalfo on Instagram after you sign up for the prizes on her website. How easy is that? I am going to be making this hat for myself. Now I just have to find a huge furry pompom to stick on top of it!
Runs from October 27 – December 31, 2017

This one works kind of like the Pigskin Party. You get points for making a project and posting it in the Ravelry thread and making a project page for it. There are different points for different things so make sure and check the rules link in the title above. This one is for people who love to watch the Holiday movies on Hallmark. There are even bonus questions for prizes about the new Hallmark movies! Make sure to use the tag k3toghallmarkkal17 on your Ravelry page to qualify for a prize!
Runs from November 21 – December 31, 2017

Ok this is a big one! A bunch (I have no idea how many) Indie Designers have a group on Ravelry. The way this one works is you buy a pattern from one of the participating designers and join one of 8 (KAL/ CAL) and enter for a chance to win prizes with your FOs. From Nov 21 – 28, 2017 there are going to be tons of patterns that are 25% off using coupon code giftalong2017 on Ravelry. So even if you can’t participate check to see if your favorite designer is! They started the group just for this event on Oct 29 and as of today there are already 7391 members!
New CAL Monthly!
Free to join the Facebook group
This looks like a fun Facebook Group. Every month they have a different CAL – how awesome is that? For November they are doing the Everyday Hoody (adult or child pattern available on Ravelry). You have to check the photo album for each month for the specific rules and guidelines of when to post your progress pictures for a chance at a prize. There is one prize a week for November! (I am not sure if it applies every month but she gave a discount code for the pattern if you purchased it before the start of this month’s cal.)
Now to November 15, 2017
Pattern cost is $6. (If you buy it before Nov 15 there is a coupon code on the pattern page in Ravelry for $1 off!)
This is for fans of Rachy Newin Designs. She published her new shawl in October and wants to see what people are turning out with it. It is a gorgeous shawl that is perfect for everyday wear. I have some sock yarn that I have been looking for a project for and I think I just found it.
Runs November 1 – 29, 2017
Pattern cost $5 (either pattern)
This is the 10th year for this MKAL! It is a mystery make along for one of two hat designs. The only clues that you get are that you need a sport or light dk yarn (she even gives guidelines on colors: solid, variegated, striped etc). There are going to be 4 installments for the pattern across the month of November. Has anyone done this one before? I haven’t heard of a Mystery KAL for a hat and now I really want to know how complicated they are!
Runs October 15 – December 31, 2017

Ok first can I just take a second to say how much I love her name? Quarrelsome Rhinoceros Stitches – there is a story there and I want to know it. Now as far as the shawl along goes you can make any shawl you want using one skein of fingering weight yarn. Make sure it is between 85 – 125 g of fingering weight yarn when finished and you can enter it to win. You can enter multiple times to try and win a prize pack. She wants to motivate people to getting crafting for the holiday season – either to relax yourself or make a gift for someone.

This one is just awesome. You can make any shawl that is inspired by a literary character or novel (no comic books). So if you have a shawl that reminds you of a character get to stitching! I haven’t listened to this podcast yet but I am getting it queued up for this afternoon. Karen runs a different MAL every quarter, and from what I can tell by nosing around in her Ravelry group – they nominate themes and vote on them for each quarter. I think this one is going to be a great place to make some on line friends.
The Giver Challenge (MKAL) hosted by Frenchie
Runs November 20 – 24, 2017

This one is going to be awesome. The whole thing is only 5 days. You sign up and get the pattern free. The way you can participate is every day the send you a portion of the pattern and a prompt of something to reflect over. Everything is emailed to you (not the yarn obviously) so you don’t have to remember to go to a site and check every day. You can post your photos in the Fibre Muse Circle Facebook Group, the Aroha Knits Challenge Group and Instagram.
